Driving directions
From Philadelphia: I-95 South to US-1 South, exit Chadds Ford. The estate is two miles north of US-1 on Brandywine Manor Road, on the right after the stone gate marked "Ashforth Manor 1897."
From Wilmington: US-202 North to Chadds Ford. Right on US-1 East for half a mile, left on Brandywine Manor Road. Two miles.
Lodging in the Brandywine Valley
The Inn at Whitewing Farm (1.4 miles) is the closest. Twelve rooms; book six months out for a Saturday wedding. The Brandywine River Hotel and the Mendenhall Inn are also walkable for shorter stays.
For families, the Hotel du Pont in Wilmington (twenty-eight minutes) is the dependable choice. The Logan in Philadelphia for guests flying in.
Things to do in Chadds Ford & Wilmington
The Brandywine River Museum (Wyeth) is six minutes from the estate; Longwood Gardens is thirty. The Winterthur estate is fifteen minutes south, with a 60-acre garden walk that rewards the trip.
